Puppies Guardian Home

As we expand our program, we are offering approved families a special opportunity to qualify as a Guardian Home where our breeding boys and girls will live. We will most likely always have one or two of our babies continue to live with us; however, we feel that, in the best interest of each dog, it is best to place puppies with their forever families right from the beginning.

Type of Thriving Environment

Labradoodles are bred to be close family companions and they naturally love human company and closeness and we believe that they will best thrive in a loving family environment where they receive an abundance of one-on-one attention!

The following is how the Guardian Program works:

  1. A puppy is placed in an approved home when the puppy is about 8-12 weeks old. (Sometimes we have older dogs that need a home.)
  2. Once the dog has successfully completed all their health testing and reaches full maturity (approximately a year and a half), we would begin the dog’s breeding career.
  3. You would need to keep a close eye on her “in heat” schedule so we can have her progestorine tested to determine optimum breeding days. Approximately 60 days after “stud time” (we take care of all this) she would come to our home where birthing and nursing occurs, returning back to you once her puppies are fully weaned.
  4. When her breeding career is over (3-4 litters), she would be spayed and she remains with your family with full ownership rights to live out her life as your loving family pet.
  5. We have “stud” family guardian home opportunities as well.

As a guardian home, responsibilities include:

  1. All Vet care including rabies, appropriate vaccines, as well as Heartworm/Flea & Tick medications. (Sunshine Doodle puppies would be responsible for reproductive expenses only.)
  2. Must be able, both financial and have time availability, to properly care for (vet care / proper obedience training / quality food) your guardian Australian Labradoodle.
  3. Feeding with a top quality food approved by us.
  4. Live within a reasonable distance to Sunshine Doodle Puppies location. (No more than 1 hour drive from Venice/Sarasota.)
  5. Open communication with the breeder; full cooperation for all breeding needs/requirements. Very important.
  6. Contained yard.
  7. No non-neutered male dogs in the home.
  8. No other potentially dangerous dogs/animals in the household.

If you become a guardian family, the dog is essentially your pet; however, Sunshine Doodle Puppies maintains full ownership, full control and full breeding rights to the dog until their breeding career is completed and Sunshine Doodle Puppies legally and officially signs over ownership.
